This is me
My name is Amy Dallen. I’m an actress (and a writer/singer/dancer/songwriter/dwarf cleric.)
Songwriter, you say? Why, yes (the post where I announce the first song.) I’ve been writing songs about video games, the first of which is online as a teaser before I start making videos.

As for the blog itself, I spend a lot of time thinking about pop culture and I work in the entertainment industry, but I have wide-ranging curiosities, so expect some comic books, some science, some history, some Japanese and some good old-fashioned feminism.
“Extra Lives” refers to second chances and to new opportunities, but above all to the dimension added to our lives by fiction and storytelling in all their forms. For this reason I group acting and history and comic books together under Susan Sontag’s definition of “the role of literature itself, which is to extend our sympathies; to educate the heart and mind; to create inwardness; to secure and deepen the awareness (with all its consequences) that other people, people different from us, really do exist.” And I get to create or inhabit those people. Nice work if you can get it.
